In.home is a project that explores the way a home can change and adapt according to a family’s changing patterns of behaviour and moods throughout the day.
Our environment doesn’t usually adapt to make room for the ebb and flow of our lives. As our requirements shift, we rearrange our environment to accommodate our changing goals, interests and behaviours.
These readjustments and changes throughout the day require active thought and work, yet rarely do we step back and think about how our space might be improved to make these daily transitions more efficient.
But what if our environment changed to support our shifting moods and desires? In.home is the prototype of an adaptive environment, one that explores new ways of interacting with the home. With a sixth sense, this experimental environment reconfigures to accommodate the distinct needs of a family faced with four different situations: weekday mornings, weekend brunches, parties and dinners with friends. ‘Living Cube; the modern version of a coffee table. Keeps food warm or cool and nearby. Lights up dramatically when in use, but otherwise blends quietly with its surroundings.
‘Pure’, the built-in water purifier. Light guides you to your choice of sparkling or natural pure, fresh, safe water.
